Abstract:

Introduction: The nature of near-field earthquake records is very complicated and uncertain. Due to this complexity, the prediction of the real structural responses has become very difficult. Based on the analysis of the physical characteristics of near-field records, it is possible to use the simplified mathematical models. Near-field ground motions which are often associated with a progressive directional phenomenon due to their particular type of the causative fault, have much more destructive effects on the structures than the other quake tremors. The related research results show that under the influence of a strong near-field ground motion which contains Forward directivity effects, the structural responses would be entered to a great nonlinear domain. On the other hand, due to the limited number of available near-field records, it is needed to prepare artificial acclerograms which can simulate the characteristics of the strong ground motions. Thus, it is possible to achieve a vast data base corresponding to wide range of powerful ground motions using mathematical wavelets. As a result, it provides a general overview of these types of artificial quake tremors and prepares an extended knowledge on the performance of structures in confronting these destructive movements...

Abstract:

This paper offers a modified circuit for improving linearization of power amplifier with based on the model of the Feed Forward circuit amplifier. With the help of mathematical model for the single power amplifier, the circuit is simulated und a demonstrator is built and measured. it is used a complex Taylor series for modeling the power amplifier by the approximation of the amplitude transfer function and the level-dependence of the transmission-phase of the power amplifier and can be understood as a simplified form of Volterra series. In our proof of concept experiment, we verified the concept but also found that the adjustment of the circuit is critically dependent on the drive conditions and linearization is achieved only for a narrow range of drive power. The simulation of the total circuit is largely determined by the models for the transmission characteristics of the two power amplifiers. The new circuit in compare with the conventional Feed Forward amplifier, in addition a significant increase in efficiency to minimize the power of the distortion signal 3IMD for large driving amplitude (large signals).

Abstract:

Purpose: Rate dependence, where the initial value of a variable plays a crucial role in determining the extent and/or direction of change following an intervention, is a known factor contributing to an individual’s response to drug and non-drug interventions. Surprisingly, it is not known if there is a rate-dependent effect on outcomes following a massage therapy intervention. We assessed whether there is a rate-dependent effect on Forward shoulder posture (FSP), pectoralis major length (PECL), and muscle excitation of the upper (UT), middle (MT), and lower trapezius (LT), and pectoralis major (PEC) following 4 minutes of myofascial release (MFR) to the pectoral fascia. Methods: Fifty-nine right-handed participants (27±9 years, 30 females) with FSP, but otherwise asymptomatic shoulders with one MFR treatment administered by a registered massage therapist were recruited. FSP, PECL, and muscle excitation during a reaching task were measured before (PRE) and after the treatment (POST). Correlations were conducted on the difference between PRE and POST values and the sum of PRE and POST values divided by two for all variables. Results: There were no significant correlations between change scores and the average PRE and POST scores for any variable. Conclusion: There is no rate-dependent effect on FSP, PECL, and muscle excitation following a 4-minute MFR intervention. These results are the first to suggest that baseline characteristics do not influence individual responses to a massage intervention. Future work should aim to determine whether speed dependence varies with different doses and types of massage interventions and patient-reported outcomes (pain, anxiety, function, etc. ) and muscle/tissue characteristics (stiffness, etc. ).

Abstract:

This paper presents a Transimpedance Amplifier (TIA) for high sensitivity Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS). The proposed TIA is based on the Regulated Cascode (RGC) structure with an extra transistor employed to implement additional feed-Forward path and achieve higher gain values. The extra transistor senses a partially amplified input signal, available in the conventional circuit, and conveys an additional ac current into the load, which provides a higher gain. In addition, a bandwidth extension method is introduced using a capacitor and resistor, which can improve amplifier’s bandwidth by 40%. The proposed TIA is designed in 0.18µm CMOS technology and achieves a transimpedance gain of 101.9dB with a -3dB bandwidth of 91.2 MHz considering 2pF of photodiode capacitance at the TIA input. The input referred noise is 4.4pA/√Hz while dissipating 151µW power.

Abstract:

Introduction: An important variable in investigation of agility during puberty is the age of reaching peak high velocity, which like other agility indicators is under the effect of different factors such as physical condition and type. The purpose of present research was to examine relationship between somatotype and peak high velocity (PHV) among Iranian 7-10 years old boys. Methods: Participants were 313 7-10 year-old members of Basij talent identification centers in all Iran's provinces. Somatotype data were calculated using Heath-Cartr instruction and PHV was measured using Mirwald formula and were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple regressions. Results: Results of pearson correlation showed that PHV had a positive correlation with ectomorphy and negative correlation with endomrphy and mesomorphy. Total correlation between PHV and somatotype was 0.50 which explained 25% of PHV variance. Results of regression analysis showed ectomrphy and endomorphy were significant predictors of PHV but msomrphy was not a significant predictor of PHV.Conclusion: Endomorphy had a smaller part in predicting the PHV age, but mesomorphy was not a strong predictor, Moreover, ectomorphy following endomrophy had a strong predicting power. Studies in this area suggest that those who have greater ectomorphic characteristics are less agile and the physiologic requisites for their puberty develop later in their bodies. Therefore poor sport performance of ectomorphic children may result from their distance to PHV age so coaches and instructors should consider this measurement and somatotype.

Abstract:

The rapid discoveries of X-rays by Roentgen, natural radioactivity by Becquerel and radium by Curies at the end of 19th century changed broadly the worlds of physics, biology and medicine. At the close of the 20th century, fundamental discoveries in biology at moecular level, often appear to overshadow this earlier work. However as more basic discoveries are made these separate scientific eras merged to contribute to the conquest of disease, specially cancer. The rapid advancements achieved during recent years, mainly due to revolutionary methodological improvements, have led to an unparalleled explosion of information. The exponential growth of data so impressive that the conceptual evaluation of the material has seemed almost an insignificant part of the scientific process. All these achievements have allowed researchers to ask new questions or to rephrase old ones. The result is a virtual avalanche of new formed knowledge.
